The 3rd of our “Looking Back Series” revisits Rachel’s 10th National Championships win victory at World Cup Round 1, Lourdes.
10 National Championships wins. 6 consecutive wins .
That’s some record and in the heat of the race season and the recent aftermath of all those World Cup wins one that we maybe didn’t celebrate quite as wildly as we should have!
Rachel calls Rhyd y Felin – an iconic venue , its everything that a British track should be with great conditions and loads of tight turns, roots and some tight wooded sections” In practise and quals the upper sections were “like a bog”
Still fighting the aftermath of her shoulder dislocation Rach said the day was “nerve wracking, no matter how may times you win, you can never believe you are going to do it again.”
She paid tribute to 2nd placed rider Tahnee Seagrave saying “ Tahnee pushes me so hard, I remember being here in 2013 when I won Elites and Tahnee won Juniors and now look! All the young girl riders should be inspired by that!”
Rachel loves racing in the UK, particularly these local races where she has time to mix with fans, to socialize with family and friends and reconnect with the grassroots racing that she loves.
